Our Story

In a Nutshell,

Why We're Here

dock_edit-2.JPG

Despite it's potentially apocalyptic effects on our society, the technology revolution sure has its upsides... We met on the dating app, Bumble, 5 years ago, spending our first date at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. From the beginning, we realized that we were aligned on so many core beliefs and philosophies of life, and were complete opposites in less fundamental areas.

For example, we align strongly in our belief in service to others, leading by example, and living a humble life - spending time and money only on things or experiences that provide us with true happiness... However, with other important skills, we differ slightly. Ani prefers organization and simplicity, keeps things where they belong, and commonly holds on to items she buys for many years... whereas Esteban is someone who aspires to in-real-life organization, but is hardly a practitioner. We sharply contrast in areas we've learned to forgive and aid each other, and agree on the really important stuff.

Though our relationship began long distance - Ani early-on remained in her role as Program Director at Tecaboca Camp and Retreat Center, in Mountain Home, and Esteban worked as IT/Marketing Director at Heritage School in Fredericksburg - we quickly moved to close that distance as we discovered that what we had was actual, bona fide, all-tingly-inside, true love. Ani, just by a hair, thought Esteban worthy enough to justify a move to Fredericksburg in the fall of 2021, beginning a new journey as Club Director at the Boys and Girls Club of Fredericksburg. Despite difficult times in the world around us, we are both confident in saying that our love has never wavered, not once. We credit that to the blessing of genuine affection for each other, and the daily appreciation for having found one another.

In early February, Esteban completely surprised Ani by proposing at her favorite place in the world- Costco. He got down on a knee between the aisle of freezers and asked her to marry him. With the ring comically displayed on a heart-shaped cauliflower pizza sample, Ani said, "Yes" immediately followed by "Oh my God" for the duration of the Costco trip.

We invite you to come celebrate with us, not because we want the attention - trust us, quite the opposite - but because we likely loved you (or at least kinda liked you) before we loved each other, and simply want to share in fond memories with you through the lens of this love.

"Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it extinguishes the small, it enkindles the great."

- Roger de Rabutin
